Eastman vs Westman

Eastman faced off against their West counterparts this morning, in what proved to be another typical game with alot of physical play and end to end rushes.  Westman was a very prepared determined team looking for a road win.  The shots were very even for the game with Eastman outshooting Westman 38 to 36, Westman ended the game with a 4-2 win over Eastman.

Eastman vs Avros

Eastman looses a tough game to their divisions Rivals Wpg Avros.  With end to end action the Avros constant movement of the puck proved to be too much to handle for Eastman tonight.  Eastman tied the Avros in shots at 30 but could not figure out how to put it past their goalie. Eastmans next action is against Westman at Home in Ste Annes on Sunday Morning.

Bruce lights the lamp for a pair

After a valiant effort in Pembina Valley the night before, the Selects return home to take on St. Mary's Academy in an exhibition contest. Once again the Selects found themselves trying to come from behind.  With a couple of lamp lighters by Bobbi Bruce the Selects were within one goal.  The Selects pushed for the tieing goal throughout the third and with the net empty St. Mary's was able to pick up a loose puck and take it in for the score.  Final Score St. Mary's Academy 4 Eastman 2.

Next action for the Selects will be another exhibition game on Thursday in Stoney Mountain where they take on Confederation College from Thunder Bay as they prepare for their final two league games on February 4th and 5th.

Showdown in Morris

The Eastman Selects travelled to Morris to take on the Pembina Valley Hawks in the second game of a home and home series. Game one ended in a draw on home ice in Eastman so the stage was set for a showdown in game two in Pembina Valley.  The Hawks were fast and furious in the first period outshooting the Selects, but Audet with some acrobatic saves kept the game close.  The Selects swarmed the Pembina Valley net in periods two and three, netting a couple tallies. With the Selects down 3-2 late in the third period, Audet headed to the bench to allow for the extra attacker, but the Selects ran out of time as Hawks were able to hold off the late game surge to take the 3-2 victory.

Eastman vs the Top Dog

Eastman ties league leading Pemina Valley Hawks 1-1.  Out shot 46 to 16 Eastmans Sydnee Kellsey put up the wall to deny Pembina Valley the win, with a shut out bid until 43 seconds left in the game Kellsey turned away everything that was thrown at her.  Awesome job Kiddo!  Eastmans loan goal was sniped by Madison Biluk bar down unassisted in the second period. Hard Hat for the game guess who???? LOL

North vs East

Eastman faced off against their Northern Rivals tonight in Ste Anne.  Eastman Schettler opened the scoring 8 minutes into the game on a power play goal her first of 3 for the evening assisted by Vandepoele and Farias. Eastman scored 4 more unanswered goals Schettler (2), assisted Biluk and Hyntka, Farias with assist to Vandepoele and Hyntka from Kostiuk and Kirby.  Eastman played a fairly disciplined game this evening only serving 4 minor penalties.  Norman were assessed 8 penalties with 3 being hits to the head.  Audet played a solid game in net turning away all 21 of Normans shots for the shutout.
Eastmans next action is Sunday against the league leading Pembina Valley Hawks at 10:30 am.

Game # 2 of the Western Road Trip

Eastman squeeked out another win today against a fired up Yellowhead team.  In another game that featured 32 minutes of penalties.  Schick started off the scoring in the first period assisted by Hyntka and Farias.  Eastman second goal scored by Falk and assisted by Farias.  The final marker came in the 3rd period scored by Kirby and assisted by Kostiuk.

Game #1 of Western Road Trip

Eastman ties the Capitals today in what was a very physical game and a resulting 28 minutes of penalties being handed out.  Teagan Tosh started the scoring with an unassisted goal.  Cassandra Falk scored Eastmans other two markers with cruise missiles from the point.  The second of her goals came with 11 seconds left in the game to tie it up.  Assists went to Biluk and Hyntka.  Eastman continues westward to play Yellowhead tomorrow in Shoal Lake.

Eastman vs Parkland

Friday the 13th  marked the return to the lineup of Eastman Captain Kayla Farias.  Eastman Defeats the Parkland Rangers in a home game that featured one goal more than the number of Penatles served by Eastman. Gimli's Madison Biluk had an outstanding performance finding the net on four occasions and assisting 2 more.  On the defensive end of the ice Eastman prevented Parkland from getting any high percentage scoring chances Syndee Kellsey easily turned away all of Parkland shots in her shutout perfomance.
Eastman embarks on a road trip tomorrow featuring a stop in Portage La Prairire to face central Plains and then on to Shoal Lake for a Sunday Game.
